Blessed Christmas 2008!

Without You, there's no Christmas! I'm sorry that this came rather late in my blog... but Lord, You know I meant it from the bottom of my heart... Happy Birthday! :)

Thank You Jesus for the year 2008. It has been a very different year for me. It's a year of much changes and challenges... yet I thank You, Lord, for being there with me through it all.

You are forever in my life
You see me through the seasons

Cover me with Your hand

And lead me in Your righteousness

And I look to You

And I wait on You

I will sing to You, Lord

A hymn of love

For Your faithfulness to me

I'm carried in everlasting arms

You'll never let me go

Through it all

It's not easy... well, who says it's easy being a mummy anyway? Who says it's easy being a working mum? But who says it's impossible to be a great mummy at the same time? Hehehe... :)

Yeah... the greatest change for me is the change of my role from just being a wife to being a mummy as well. The challenge comes when my priorities changed... my interests changed... my views and opinions change.... Many changes took place in me - be it my emotions, thought-patterns, my physical body (sigh...), and spiritually (having no time sounds like a very honest reason to give for me to be quite down spiritually, but it's not fair to my Beloved for He has given me all the time I want when I called upon Him).

Christmas is always a great time for me to reflect the ups and downs in my life as it's toward the end of the year... yeah... it's the time of the year when I'm praying for new resolutions for another great year ahead. Hehehe... It's also a great time to thank God for everything and everyone that He has brought into my life... for family and for friends... Well, it's Sarah's first Christmas this year, and that made it even more special for us as a family! :)

Lord Jesus, thank You for everything!

With much...
...from SRS :)

Protect your child against allergies

I found some guidelines for child's dietary which I believe every parent must know:
1. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months provides the ideal protection.
2. Weaning foods should not be given too early (Solid foods should be introduced at 6 months).
3. Avoid highly allergenic foods for the first year.
4. Add only one new food per week so that food that is not well tolerated can be recognized and removed.

Foods which are least likely to cause allergic reactions (to be introduced from 6 months):
  • carrot
  • pear
  • rice
  • apple
  • prune

Foods which are usually well tolerated, but occasionally cause allergic reactions (to be introduced after 6 months):
  • barley
  • wheat
  • oats
  • turnip
  • broccoli
  • spinach
  • cabbage
  • plum
  • banana
  • peach
  • apricot
  • cherry
  • potato
  • corn (and corn oil)
  • lamb
  • beef
  • chicken
Foods which are most likely to cause allergic reactions (to be introduced from 9 months):
  • berries (strawberry & raspberry)
  • legumes (soybeans, beans)
  • egg yolk (must be fully cooked)
  • fish

Foods which are highly allergenic (to be introduced from 12 months):
  • peanuts
  • egg white
  • seafood (prawns, crab, dried & fresh scallops)

Baby diaper changing facility in Jusco IOI Mall in Puchong

I must share my experience in Jusco IOI Mall in Puchong... Ouch! Not so good for Jusco IOI Mall's management, but I guess they will do better with the new wing coming up soon. A little grace given since they are one of the oldest (or THE oldest?) Jusco in Malaysia.

Baby changing room facility? No good AT ALL! Poor poor poor facility indeed. Yes, they have toilets/washing area for toddlers (Good job on that... but what if your baby hasn't reached toddler's age?) Parents really do need to re-consider shopping in IOI Mall just because of that. It was our first time there since Sarah was born, and only shop there once or twice before that.

Last Saturday, after visiting my "sick" friend, Moomoo, we went to Jusco IOI Mall. Lo and behold our dear Sarah poo in her diaper and so... as normally the case, hubby & I went to look for the baby room (thinking that all Juscos are the same). We went around looking for the baby room (normally situated at the Baby department), but couldn't find it there. We asked one of the salesgirl and she told us it's at the washroom area. Okayyy.... we found the "baby" symbol that led us to the washroom.... but hmmm.... where is the diaper changing table?.... hmmmm.... I popped my head into the ladies washroom and found breastfeeding room with baby cot and some chairs... but hmmmmm.... how am I going to change the diaper? In the baby cot? Hmmmmmm.... I don't think I should do that.... And so... we decided to wash her butt in the toddler's toilet (and there is no place where I can safely put the baby bag+pants+socks) and hubby went to buy drypants so that we can easily change her diaper without having her to lie down.... and yes, we changed her diaper in the common waiting area outside the washroom. Oh boy! We have to carry the half-naked little girl out so that we could sit at the bench outside to put a clean drypants on her.

Well, check out some photos I got... Yep, after changing Sarah's diaper, I went into the washroom area again and took some pix for the purpose of me blogging about it. I guess, this would mean - to everyone out there... "Don't mess with Bloggers!" :p

[+video] A day in Tesco...

Little Sarah's first time sitting on the trolley. She was excited!... but only for awhile (sigh...)

Hubby and I was contemplating whether to bring the stroller along, while doing some shopping... finally we decided, why not put her in the trolley and see how things go from there.

We experienced before having to carry her, push her stroller, and push a trolley at the same time in the supermarket! I guess many parents experience that before. Our babies just wanna be carried, and that could be a stress when time is a factor, plus having our hands full at that same time too!
We used to carry her along in a baby carrier like this... (pix on right taken when she was 3.5 months old)

...but time will tell when we can't carry her like this anymore as she grows bigger in a few more months. Well, few days ago we went Jusco IOI mall after visiting a "sick" friend in Puchong and thought of using this carrier again while doing some shopping. Thank God it still fits! Hahaha!

While she was sleeping...

I was gazing at her beauty.... I was admiring her character (of never giving up!).... I reflected back the day when she was born when my gynae, Dr Tan, said that she was a "fierce baby" the moment he carried her. Well, he was definitely right about that. Sarah's a person with strong character as far as I can tell.

When she's hungry, it would mean "I'm hungry NOW! I wanna eat NOW!"
When she's sleepy, it would mean "Take me to bed NOW! Don't even think of feeding me or playing with me, cuz I'm tired and I'm sleepy! And I wanna sleep NOW!"
When she has something in her hands, it would mean "I'm not letting it go... it's MINE!"
She has never given up in all her ventures... so far. When she falls, she will pull herself up again. That's something I really admire in her character.

She was sound asleep at 10.30pm. It was almost an everyday habit that we hope to establish. No more using the sarong to make her sleep at night as we felt letting her play about on her own on the bed will eventually make her sleep within half an hour... and sometimes within 10-15 minutes, which is a great achievement, knowing her sleeping patterns since birth could be really stressful for us parents (and grandparents). But I thank God that things are much better now. She's growing well and it's in our daily prayer that God will continue to bless little Sarah with a healthy development of her body, mind, soul and spirit. It's also not easy for us parents to be role models to our children. Many times, very naturally, we let situations and emotions take over the better part of us. We pray that God will intervene in that as well so that hubby & I will be great parents and role models to our little girl.

Blessed 60th, Mummy!

Last Saturday, we celebrated my mummy's 60th birthday! The family, together with uncle & aunt Chew had buffet dinner in Renaissance Hotel. Hmm... no picture of any food this round. Dono Y, but didn't even thought of that! Boy.... we must be super hungry! :p

It was a great time spent as the family get together in this special occasion... :)

Little Sarah & the Christmas tree in the hotel lobby

SIL, Peggy & Paul... & of course his transformer toys!

After having our stomachs filled, we finally remembered to take some pix of the occasion... :p

Happy 60th Birthday, Mummy!

Little Sarah's new car!

When Ah Ee saw my previous post about Sarah's "L" license, she immediately thought of buying little Sarah a car... quoting one of her SMS-es to me: "Gotten a so-called beauty 4 sarah.. it's only 4 a toughie like her can ride it. Haha... looks like a lil boy's tool le." Hehehe... indeed it is!

Sarah was so happy when she saw the car. Too bad we didn't manage to capture that look on her face but she was laughing and showing such joy seeing the new car! Hahaha... Thank you Ah Ee for the beauty! :)

Little Sarah & kor-kor Paul excitedly checking out the green beauty - car inspection?

Little Sarah riding on her green beauty... Yep, it was kinda too big for her and so her leg didn't touch the ground... she only use it to aid in her walking for now.

Happy Fullmoon to bb Maximus!

Last week was bb Maximus fullmoon celebration! Congrats to the new daddy Jin & mummy Danielle!

We had lots of makan and many babies to play with. Yep! There were many kids and I think at least 5 babies in the house (born this year) and that includes Sarah & Janson! It was so cute to watch them all together, and yes... 20 years from now, they will probably be studying in the same university! Hahaha!

That's cutie pie Maximus! Roaring away... and the proud daddy looked on... :)

Princess Sarah, Hansem Janson &... err... a cute kid! Hehehe...

Janson: Speak NO evil!
Sarah: Hear NO evil!

[+video] NO, I'm NOT letting it go, but...

It's the part of her that only those at home can see.... and now, the www! hehehe... :)

Yes, this is the possessive nature of every human being... and it can start from as young as little babies! Well, one day when little Sarah grows up, she would need to learn to let go of certain things in life and react to the situation in a more positive way. Hehehe...

Yes, Sarah... Mummy's learning it too... slowly, but surely! :)

[+video] YES! She did it! (at Month 8+)

Amazing to daddy's eyes... amazing to mummy's eyes... amazing to everyone's eyes! 8-)

Daddy did it at 10 months old.... Mummy did it at 10 months old too! But she beat daddy & mummy and did it at 8 months!

YES, little Sarah added more steps to her walking venture! We're all so proud of her!

Thank you, CK (Pek-Pek), so so much to loan me your camera to capture this moment - It is definitely creating history in our Sarah's life journal! Oh... and thank you also for becoming the "facilitator" in her venture! :)

All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth! (At Month 8+)

Another tooth is growing! It excites me to see little Sarah is cutting her 3rd tooth. She's definitely feeling uncomfortable at this stage. Her appetite for porridge dropped too! Poor girl... Well, the funny thing is.... her appetite for any other thing remained the same... except porridge. Hmmm...

Well, if all goes well, I guess she will have her 2 front (top) teeth for Christmas! Hehehe... :B

Little Sarah's first few steps (at Month 8+)

Last Friday, I saw little Sarah engaging into her walking adventure. She let her hands go and took 2-3 small steps forward before she fell to the ground, and almost every time she stands up, she will start clapping her hands. It was as though she knew she had achieved something and she clapped her hands to tell herself that she's doing well!

I believe in a matter of a few more weeks, she will start walking all by herself. Will continue to encourage my little girl. She's doing mummy and daddy proud... :)

"Rhinorrhea"

Rhinorrhea, commonly known as a runny nose, consists of an unusually significant amount of nasal discharge. It is a symptom of the common cold and of allergies (hay fever). The term comes from the Greek words "rhinos" meaning "of the nose" and "rhoia" meaning "a flowing."

Taken from wikipedia.

Yep.... my nose is running as I am typing this. (sob! sob!)
2 days ago, I got a sore throat (immediately after eating a couple of biscuits!). I blamed the biscuits for causing me such pain especially yesterday when I woke up in the morning. It was my first experience getting a sore throat after munching some biscuits... as what DanLion says, "u better blog about this, say what biscuit so that the whole world will know about this dangerous biscuit!" Hahaha... that's our DanLion! :)

I shared this with Becca last night and she said it happened to her before and therefore she tries avoiding biscuits whenever possible (there goes the biscuit industry! :p)! Hmm... actually this is interesting. I never knew that my throat can get hurt by eating biscuits... my first experience... and that's why i am blogging about it! Hehehe... Becca said that one of the reason my throat got sore was because I probably had it already - just that the biscuit kinda triggered it further. Eeeks! Can't blame the biscuit fully then... I guess it was due to tiredness over the weekend. Plus, having a long day yesterday (you can read it in Danlion's blog). We had to rush back to VVC for music practice after the AV setup in Pavilion. Another long day, and that's why somebody was also very tired this morning! So last night on the way back, i got hit by rhinorrhea. So, yes.... i got the whole package (minus the cough!)

People around me, better beware!
Drink lots of water, wahlup VitCs, wear face mask if possible, etc etc... :p

International Convention 2008

It was a joint convention held by The Latter Rain Church Malaysia & The Way Church, Singapore in Port Dickson last week, starting from 24th to 27th November. A different convention this year for me as I went there without my hubby dearest and also had to be away from my princess for a few days. I went there with sifu, Andrew Coomby, and his crew to setup the sound system on 24th morning. Things were alright when we did the sound check and all. Sifu then rushed back for his other appointments for the day, leaving me there in God's hands. So unfortunately, the system seem to be giving some unwanted humming sounds when the meeting started that night. I was on the line with Andrew half the sessions just trying to trouble shoot what went wrong. Well, to cut the long story short, we actually had to live with the hums every now and then. We tried every way to destroy it but nothing seem to work.

Thank God I had Joshua from Singapore and Gabriel to help me out here and there... Well, at least I don't feel alone riding on this troubled water! I honestly felt quite stress having to deal with this technical issues that is beyond my capabilities, more so alone... but God knows... He brought "angels" around me to help me as much as they possibly can. After that first night, I felt less stress. Stress only comes when the situation seem to go against me. Well, I wouldn't say that we have conquered the storm (technically) but I know to some extend, I conquered the situation - not allowing it to take over my emotions.

On the video side of things.... we had lesser video crew on board this round. So... yes, to cut another long story short, we were short-handed. But uncle made this "robotic tripod" so he could control one of the camera from a distance! What a brilliant guy! Olivia & Veron were crew this round too... I on the other hand was available to stand in for anything that needs my service, since Gabriel volunteered himself to be the sound guy! hehehe... So, yes... I was here and there - making sure that the recordings are done properly, tapes are changed, the audio levels are right, doing switching when uncle is busy answering some business calls, be the main camera-gal when Veron was on duty for switching on the 2nd day, sound engineer when Gabriel is busy taking photos, behind the mic when the singers went into the "tunnel", troubleshooting here and there whenever needed, etc etc... I think overall, it was fruitful for me when comes to service. Praise God that I can avail myself to do much for His glory! Well... post-production busy-ness after this!

The worship was great. Personally I felt "free" during the last night. Hmmm... I actually managed to loosen myself up and jumping up and down like a young gal (yeah, i know i'm not that lightweight now but somehow I felt light then! hehehe...) Also, a note of thanks to Caleb & Debbie for coming back from Oz and leading in worship. We've not had such worship for a very long time and we knew something was broken loose during the convention. God bless them! :)

Hmmm... no pix taken during the convention. We had many other photographers then. I had my camera but it was in my luggage bag from day1 and never been brought out. :p
I played around a little with Gabriel's SONY DSLR, but it was only for a short moment. I guess my focus was on other things... Well, we'll see if I can get some copyrights to some pix from Gabriel later! :)

OK... so there goes my report on convention. Needless to say... I missed hubby and princess a lot in those few days. However, I managed to catch up with some other members during my stay and a great fellowship with Steph too during my way back to PJ. It's been a long time since I really had that. Well, once awhile we need to give time to the people around us and do some catching up of each other's lives in the midst of our busy-ness... with our family/work/ministry. All in all, YES - I was Blessed! :)

p/s - thanks Dan & Marilyn for your prayers! :)

On being sticky...

Little Sarah's been rather sticky to me these few days after my absence for 3 and half days of her life. Not sure whether she was actually afraid of me going MIA again... or just another phase of her growth and understanding of having mummy around or not... She was also behaving slightly different last Sunday in church towards people around her. She would normally allow all the aunties & uncles to carry her and play with her (without seeing mummy-la), but this time, she seemed to be looking for me at all times. Even daddy sometimes couldn't handle her. But then again, we thought maybe she was tired... maybe she was sleepy.

Last night when we went back to my in-law's house, little Sarah put on her sticky mode again and kept wanting me to carry her. She was alright at first when we put her in the high chair, but not long later she cried to be carried. We fed her with porridge... and even that, before finishing half the bowl, she was already crying to carried up. It wasn't like her at all to do that. Oh boy... I hope she doesn't get too attach to me. Anyway, the good part about all this is... she's pretty attach to daddy at night too - so that's a relief for me. At least daddy can help put girl to sleep if mummy's too tired by night.

Well, will update more about her development in days to come. I pray that she will grow up healthy and wise! God bless little Sarah!

[+video] Little Sarah's on the go (at a fast pace... literally!!)

I took this video of her a week before I went to PD... whenever I thought of her, I would play this video and laugh/smile to myself like "orang gila". Hehehe... She's such an active cutie pie! Love u so much, Sarah! Hope hubby don't get too jealous. Hehehe... Sshhhh.... :)

Friends in church who saw this video of her couldn't somehow believe that it is really the little girl who seems sooooo "goody-good" and quiet in church every week. Hahaha! They thought wrong! :) Most of the time she's a lil sleepy by the time we get to church on Sundays because I had to wake her up from her slumber, get her all dressed up and ready for church!

So.... TA-DA! Presenting to you.... my little princess! :)

[+video] I'm back!

Yes, I'm back! :D

But before I share a little about the convention, let me first share a little about the apple of my eye. I'm truly joyful beyond words to see her again and talking about hugging, kissing & squeezing... yes, i did all that already! Hehehe... I'm glad to hear also that she's been behaving well the past few days when I wasn't around. Hubby said she was naughtier with me around... hmmm.... He said that she was acting more "manja" too... She glued to me like a magnet during the night.... but I love that feeling, so... no complaints about that! Hehehe...

Let's see.... while I was away, she learned a new word... (sounds like "da-da" for "daddy"... maybe :))

Thank u, dada, for taking good care of girl in my absence. You're a great dada! Love u much! *muacks*

It's my church Convention this week...

Yeah, it's been 3 days now since my "first physical separation" with little Sarah. :(

My church convention in Port Dickson started on Monday, and will last through till Thursday... (yeah, that's why you've seen less of me these few days... err... blogging and online i mean... :))

The story was... Hubby will not be attending the convention this year. I, on the other hand, will be attending, also due to some duties that I need to carry out. I was intending to bring little Sarah with me and have my mum take care of her, but later on felt mum may not be able to handle as she has never really taken care of girl fulltime... and what would happen if I'm not available for girl as I may get too busy with my duties. I know I would be missing her so very much, yet I also know that it would be worst if I had missed taking care of her well being in my busy-ness. I felt then that that's the best decision I could make for now.

This morning hubby called me. I'm glad to hear his voice and glad to also know that little Sarah's fine. She did not look for me during her day time activities... even when daddy comes home from work alone. It was only when comes to sleeping time that she started looking for me. She's pretty much attach to me during the night. Recently, we practise going up to bed at the time WE want and if she's not yet sleepy, we will let her play by herself in the room until she's tired (most times, it's about after half an hour or so). That method seemed to work for the past one week. Hubby decided to continue that same method while I was away in PD. I heard that it didn't work this round for the past two nights. Instead, she kept looking at the very spot I sleep, looking for mummy. She cried when she didn't see me. Hubby carried her up and again, she kept turning to the bed... but no, mummy was no where near her. My heart melted when I heard that. O, I miss her so...

So many uncles & aunties asking where's my little girl. Some from other branches were hoping to see her too but every question is answered with me saying how much I missed her.

Well, time flies... it's already the last night and tomorrow, I will see hubby dearest and little princess again. Can't wait for that moment to come... I will surely hug her, kiss her, squeeze her when I see her...

So that's all from me for now...

[+video] Little Sarah's night activity...

Yes, daddy was sleeping soundly... and u can hear the clock ticking at the background... mummy here decided to take a short video clip of little Sarah's night activities. If she's not rocked to sleep in the sarong before putting her down to sleep on the bed, she'll be actively moving about on the bed until she gets tired on her own.

Sunday morning at 3am till 4+ was one of the longest night... even for me. And this morning... she was acting up like an owl again. This time it wasn't so bad because it was only about 12.30mn!

[+video] Leg exercise...

One of the activities that keep little Sarah busy in the car...

[+video] the Cousins: Sarah & Reanne

Two gals... two personalities... even from this short clip, you can tell the personalities of these 2 little princesses... :)

OK... after watching it... we can now say that Sarah is the kind who won't-let-go-of-whatever-she-gets-in-her-hands... determine? Hmm... also looks like the kind that doesn't bother what takes place around her so long as she gets what she wants. Is that good? Well, we pray that she will use her gifts wisely! :)

On the other hand, Reanne seemed like a person who is focus... and "safe". She doesn't mind "letting go" if it would mean playing safe. She's very gentle and I believe she will grow to be a feminine fine lady! Oh... and one thing's for sure... she'll go ALL OUT (literally) for the camera! She'll probably be an actress or a performer one day... just like her ah ee! :)

A weekend in Sg Congkak

"Cool, crystal-clear water, roaring rapids and a cascading river are the highlights of the Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest. There is also a rich diversity of flora and fauna."

Sg Congkak is located in the district of Hulu Langat. On 1st November, ie 2 Saturdays ago, the family went for a short retreat to this forest. We were there late afternoon, but it wasn't sunny... like every other day because shaded by trees everywhere. The only difference would be... whether or not we'll find a good spot to rest our butts. Well, praise God we did! Hehehe... The family outing was also to celebrate MIL's birthday and my belated one (i tumpang saje! :p)

Little Sarah's first experience in the river waters...
Her first impression of it... *blur*
Secondly, she kinda got used to it... so she started kicking the waters, until MIL asked to take off her diapers so she can go "deeper". She cried immediately when her feet touched the waters. I guess it was too cold for her too, and her body's reacting towards it, screaming at us, adults, "Enough is enough! I don't wanna get a cold after this!" Geez... i'm learning. Hehehe...
... and here's Ivan enjoying his time in the waters! It was fun to see... :)

Yeh-yeh & Nai-nai taking care of the 3 grandchildren while the other 2 couples "syiok sendiri" take photos here and there. :p

Here are some of the "syiok sendiri" photos...
The "konon-lah outdoor-wedding-shots" poses... hehehe... with the help of the tripod + remote control!

Wanna know what does the phrase "mati katak" look like? kekeke...

Spirulina benefits... in short! :)

During a conversation with hubby...

Me: Do u know what's the benefit of spirulina?

He: Err... don't know...

Me: You didn't read about it in my blog?
:o

He: No....

Me: Why not?!!

He: Article's too long ler..... so what's the benefit???
:p

I cant blame him for his replies... because I'll say the same too! Hehe... if you ask me again about the benefits, I would have to think and think and think and finally come up with a reply that goes like this: All I know is... it's good... so just eat it!!! :p

OK OK... and so for this reason and for the benefit of those who may have thought like us... here's a summary on the benefits of spirulina...

1. High source of protein - 12-15 times more protein than steak and is 5 times easier to digest than meat or soy protein
2. Vitamin B12 - an excellent addition to the vegetarian diet!
3. Vitamin A & Vitamin E
4. Health-enhancing amino acids
5. Gamma-lioleic acid (GLA) - a fatty acid that promotes cardiovascular health
6. Chelated forms of potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, phosphorus and iron
7. Chlorophyll (green) and phycocyanin (blue) pigments - proven to help detoxify the liver
8. Best known for its ability to boost the immune system, and research indicates it may even help both treat and prevent cancer.
9. Stimulates the natural killer (NK) cells that fight illness and attack and kill cancerous cells.

So, in other words, we can summarize the benefits of spirulina with just 3 words:
CLEANSING, RESTORING & FORTIFYING
(hehe... clear enough?! :))

Do you have time to PRAY?

If you have time to worry about IT....
... you would have time to PRAY about IT!

I received this word many many years ago (when i was still in school) - written by a dear friend of mine on a birthday card. I still kept it prettily and safely in my card box! Thx Michiko! :)

Many times, again and again, these words will come as a reminder to me of the power through prayer. The storms in life seem so big and distract me from knowing that this power DO exist. Today, there is again this reminder that I need to spend time praying instead of worrying about IT.

So, how about U?

[Knowledge: Baby] Playtime for Babies - Month 8

At week 29:
Get together with other parents who have babies the same age as yours and arrange a toy swap. If you belong to a playgroup, you already have the perfect setup for a trade. Your baby will love exploring and playing with new toys - and they won't cost you a penny, or a trip to the toy store.

At week 30:
Help your baby develop her newly acquired sitting skill. Sit on the floor to play games and talk with her. (Hint: Place pillows around her in case she goes over.) Roll a ball back and forth between the two of you and, when you need a break, let her bang pots and pans together. Ah, the sweet clamor of child's play!

At week 31:
Set up an obstacle course so your baby can test his mobility skills. Try a couple of pillows from the couch, an empty cereal box, a paper-towel tube and a few stuffed animals. If he becomes frustrated or stuck, gently help him along.

At week 32:
Help your baby develop her abilities. Place a toy just out of her reach and let her try to get it. She may become frustrated when she can't quite reach it. Let her keep trying. Succeeding at this game will help her build confidence.

[Knowledge: Baby] Playtime for Babies - Month 7

At week 25:
Introduce your baby to the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song. While he faces you, sing the song and follow the finger play:

"The itsy bitsy spider went up the waterspout (walk your fingers up his tummy)
Down came the rain (tap your fingers lightly on his chest)
And washed the spider out (wave your hands in front of his face)
Up came the sun (form a circle with your hands and move it upward)
And dried up all the rain (tap your fingers lightly on his chest, as before)"

At week 26:
You can reinforce your baby's growing understanding of cause and effect while she's in the bathtub. Show her that a cup can be filled with water and then emptied, and then demonstrate how several small cups can be filled from one bigger one. Once she's hooked on this activity, you may have a budding chemist on your hands!

At week 27:
Introduce your baby to the "Sooo Big" game. Sit facing each other, holding hands. Ask him, "How big is baby?" Then, take his arms and extend them out to each side and say, "Sooo big!" He'll be thrilled to play this game over and over and will progress to putting his arms out on his own before you know it.

At week 28:
Play "Pop Goes the Weasel." Sit your baby on your lap and sing:

"All around the mulberry bush the monkey chased the weasel
The monkey thought it was all in fun... pop goes the weasel!"

Throughout the song rock your little one back and forth, and when you reach the end, bounce her gently on the word "pop." You can also try this holding your baby all the way up, if she can support some of her weight on her legs.

My birthday DAY :)

My birthday started off with many warm wishes through SMS-es and Facebook greetings. Thanks to my family, relatives and friends for all the great wishes! :)

We had breakfast at a nearby mamak restaurant... came afternoon, we got ourselves ready to celebrate the rest of the day. The plan, besides celebrating my birthday, was to bring our little Sarah to see a little bit more of the "world" outside. :)

It was either.... Bird Park... or Butterfly Park.... heh heh... but in the end, hubby and i decided for a "livelier" adventure... the Aquaria in KLCC! Thanks to Steff that we made this decision (if u're reading this.. thank u for introducing us to this! hehe...). I read about it in her website and told hubby about it. We thought perhaps it would be a good idea to get little Sarah (and ourselves) exposed to the underwater world! :)

We went to the Underwater World in Langkawi many years ago... this wa
s sooooooooooo much better than that... much well-maintained, much better looking... even though it may not have that many aquatic animals as I thought it would have. So guys, if you wanna consider a place for family outing or educational trip for kids (and adults too!), this is one of it!

Entrance fee is RM28/adult and RM22/children (For Malaysian citizens)
RM38/adult and RM26/children (For non-Malaysian citizens)
RM18/Senior citizens (60 and above)

Parking is RM6 per entry. Considered very cheap for KL parking :)

On the way to KLCC... Little Sarah looks tired...

... trying to reach out... for... the... camera... but.... zzzzzzzzz.....
She took a quick nap before reaching our destination.

Our destination: Aquaria
Here are some fishes....

... piranha, tortoise and some amphibians...

... hmm... looks like it's not just a place for aquatic animals!
Well, there are actually quite a number of reptiles here... and little Sarah's checkin' out on the lil' crocodile...

...and more reptiles...
hmm... are we really in Aquaria???!

An Iranian tourist couldn't resist for a picture to be taken with little Sarah...
... and Sarah was captivated by the fishes... that was nice to see... :)

This is the best part of all... the Tunnel!
Here shark, there shark... everywhere shark, shark! :p

I love this... Check out the lights shining from above the water... beautiful, aint it?
Hubby got a good shot of a shark just under it! Great job dear! :)

Our one and only family photo in this outing!
Little Sarah seemed to enjoy this outing a lot... Check out the smile on her face! :)

Oooo... what's up there??? Soooo many big fake fishes!
Err... can i touch that fish, mummy?!
Little Sarah was again captivated by the fishes... hehe... was she trying to communicate with that BIG fish? :)

"Snakes" for sale!!!
Just before we leave aquaria, we "dropped by" the souvenir section... well, not drop by (we had to walk pass it to exit! :p)
Little Sarah is always curious to touch and feel the things around her.

After Aquaria, we went to San Francisco Steakhouse for dinner in KLCC.
Oh yah... it was also Halloween that day - thus, the pumpkin head on the table for decoration purpose! Candlelight dinner? Muahahahaa! :D
Salads as starters for hubby and I... and blue bear for little Sarah!

She was actually sooooo tired after the Aquaria visit, she slept for awhile before dinner.
The main course... hubby had chicken maryland and I had their homemade tagliatelle with prawns in aglio olio style! (Yes, i took a picture of the menu so that I could spell word for word of what I had! Hahaha! :D)

After the nap, little Sarah proceeded on with her main course... which was...
Rusks Biscuit! Kekeke...
Last but not least, we had "cake of the day" as dessert!

Just before leaving for home, we dropped by the fountain for a short while... just to introduce to our girl something different to look at. :)

We had a great time!
It was a great birthday celebration with hubby and little Sarah! Yes, it was the first time with girl-girl, and we really enjoyed the time spent together.
Thank U, dear, for a great celebration... for taking the day off from work to be with me (us) on this special day... :)

p/s - Most of the pictures above were taken by hubby... these are used with permission! :p

Sarah's latest development... standing (at Month 7)

Since 2 weeks ago, little Sarah has been trying out standing without support, but it was only for a few seconds. Not easy to capture that moment too as it was such a short while.

Last Friday, she was standing, supported by the glass door at home... then she began to "let go" and look at me. It was a really cute sight but it was only recorded in my memory... no chance to take a picture or a video of it. She stood there for about 5 seconds. The look that she gave me was like... "Hey, check this out, mummy! I could staaaaaand!!! Coooooooooool!!!"

Way to go, Sarah! You make mummy proud! :)

[+video] Little Sarah loves eating porridge...

Thank God that Sarah has no problem eating. I heard of some mummies sharing of how difficult it is to wean their children... It's not easy handling this kind of situation... I can imagine the stress they have to go through too! I guess different parents experience different kinds of stress. Mine is definitely not about food. *phew*

Managed to shoot a short clip of little Sarah eating her porridge. Here, she's somewhat distracted by her surroundings... my mum & J (during their recent visit :p) and daddy, the cameraman... but good enough to share how much she enjoys her food. On a side note, she actually eats pretty fast and almost without pause! The only pauses were when mummy here had to wipe the area around her mouth every now and then during her feeds. :)

Little princess in dress... :)

It wasn't easy, trying to take photos of little Sarah... she's on the move... literally!!
Mummy here kept shouting, making weird sounds, trying to get her attention, panting here & there... it was a very tiring process indeed!
She must have thought I was playing with her! Hahaha...

I like this shot of daddy & little Sarah :)

That's our little princess in a pretty dress!

[Article] Infant first aid for choking and CPR: An illustrated guide

Article taken from babycentre

The following instructions are for babies younger than 12 months old.

Choking

Step 1: Assess the situation quickly.

If your baby is suddenly unable to cry or cough, something may be blocking her airway, and you'll need to help her get it out. She may make odd noises or no sound at all while opening her mouth, and her skin may turn bright red or blue.

If she's coughing or gagging, her airway is only partially blocked. In this case, let her continue to cough. Coughing is the most effective way to dislodge a blockage.

If your baby isn't able to cough up the object, ask someone to call 911 or the local emergency number while you begin back blows and chest thrusts (see step 2, below).

If you're alone with your baby, give two minutes of care, then call 911.

On the other hand, if you suspect that your baby's airway is closed off because her throat has swollen shut, call 911 immediately. Your baby may be having an allergic reaction — to something she ate or to an insect bite, for example — or she may have an infection, like croup.

Also call right away if your baby is at high risk for heart problems.

Step 2: Try to dislodge the object with back blows and chest thrusts.

If your baby can't clear her airway on her own and you believe something is trapped there, carefully position her facedown on your forearm with your hand supporting her head and neck. Rest the arm holding your baby on your thigh.

Support your baby so that her head is lower than the rest of her body. Then, using the heel of your hand, give her five firm and distinct back blows between her shoulder blades to try to dislodge the object.

Next, place your free hand (the one that had been delivering the back blows) on the back of your baby's head with your arm along her spine. Carefully turn her over while supporting her head and neck. Support your baby faceup with your forearm resting on your thigh, still keeping her head lower than the rest of her body.

Place the pads of two or three fingers just below an imaginary line running between your baby's nipples. To give a chest thrust, push straight down on the chest 1/2 inch to 1 inch, then allow the chest to come back to its normal position.

Give five chest thrusts. The chest thrusts should be smooth, not jerky.

Continue the sequence of five back blows and five chest thrusts until the object is forced out or your baby starts to cough. If she's coughing, let her try to cough up the object.

If your baby becomes unconscious at any time, she'll need modified CPR (see full instructions below).

Give her two rescue breaths. If the air doesn't go in (you don't see her chest rise), retilt her head and try two rescue breaths again.

If her chest still doesn't rise, give her 30 chest compressions. Look in her mouth and remove the object if you see it. Give her two more rescue breaths, repeat the chest compressions, and so on, until help arrives.

How to Give CPR

What is CPR?

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This is the lifesaving measure you can take to save your baby if she shows no signs of life (breathing or movement).

CPR uses chest compressions and rescue breaths to circulate blood that contains oxygen to the brain and other vital organs until emergency medical personnel arrive. Keeping oxygenated blood circulating can help prevent brain damage — which can occur within a few minutes — and death.

Giving CPR isn't hard to do. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Check your baby's condition.

Is your baby conscious? Flick her foot or gently tap on her shoulder and call out. If she doesn't respond, have someone call 911 or the local emergency number. (If you're alone with your baby, give two minutes of care as described below, then call 911 yourself.)

Swiftly but gently place your baby on her back on a firm surface.

Make sure she isn't bleeding severely. If she is, take measures to stop the bleeding by applying pressure to the area. Do not administer CPR until the bleeding is under control.

Step 2: Open your baby's airway. Tilt your baby's head back with one hand and lift her chin slightly with the other. (You don't need to tilt an infant's head back very far to open her airway.)

Check for signs of life (movement and breathing) for no more than ten seconds.

To check for your baby's breath, put your head down next to her mouth, looking toward her feet. Look to see whether her chest is rising and listen for breathing sounds. If she's breathing, you should be able to feel her breath on your cheek.

Step 3: Give her two gentle breaths.

If your baby isn't breathing, give her two little breaths, each lasting just one second. Cover your baby's nose and mouth with your mouth and gently exhale into her lungs only until you see her chest rise.

Remember that a baby's lungs are much smaller than yours, so it takes much less than a full breath to fill them. Breathing too hard or too fast can force air into the infant's stomach or damage her lungs.

If her chest doesn't rise, her airway is blocked. Give her first aid for choking, above.

If the breaths go in, give your baby two breaths in a row, pausing between rescue breaths to let the air flow back out.

Step 4: Give her 30 chest compressions.

With your baby still lying on her back, place the pads of two or three fingers just below an imaginary line running between your baby's nipples.

With the pads of these fingers on that spot, compress the chest 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Push straight down. Compressions should be smooth, not jerky.

Give her 30 chest compressions at the rate of 100 per minute. When you complete 30 compressions, give two rescue breaths (step 3, above).

Step 5: Repeat compressions and breaths.

Repeat the cycle of 30 compressions and two breaths. If you're alone with your baby, call 911 or the local emergency number after two minutes of care. Continue the cycle of compressions and breaths until help arrives.

Even if your baby seems fine by the time help arrives, you'll want to have her checked by a doctor to make sure that her airway is completely clear and that she hasn't sustained any internal injuries.
